I opening up the letterbox and finding stuff in it
I traveling alone and being lost in translation
I bookshelves packed tightly with books; so much so i wanna live in one
I walking long distances
I eating hot tauhuay in the sweltering heat and ice cream in the freezing winter
I gadgets
I picking up new languages
I green tea
I being alone

&I my SH-01A and it's ability to read ebooks. Considering how i buy a book nearly every three weeks, it's a worthwhile investment. Not to mention it's 8MP CCD cam with ISO up to 2500.

right round

i was supposed to stay away from digitally enhancing my photos from Tokyo so that they will be able to retain their original flavors but i can't. I can't look at a picture knowing it's imperfect and yet not do anything about it.

develop

in terms of contrast sharpness and brightness, there's quite a change but mum says she can't see any difference -.-

or maybe?

getting a new phone next week! Can't believe it's gonna be in pink but nevermind, i guess it's time for a change :D An unlocked NTT-DOCOMO's Sharp baby with 8mp CCD CAM! I'm damn sucker for powerful cams on mobile phones and it's a CCD!!! totally pwnz CMOS flat down. The user interface will take a bit of getting used to but i'm hoping the hypersim will be compatible with my sim.

The best thing about the phone? MADE-IN-JAPAN. Meaning superb build and I'll be able to type jap on it :D:D

After so long, i still got a japanese phone afterall :D

キセキ

キセキ
We stayed in 南千住 (Minami senju) which was admittedly kinda out of the way but it didn't have the crazy crowd characteristic of busy 東京 that would have aggravated the anxiety in me.

キセキ1
Some of these were taken in 鎌倉(kamakura) and some around the place we stayed in. 鎌倉 is really a vintage heaven. Too bad we didn't get a chance to stay there and explore for long thanks to a smart aleck who barely knew anything about the place but incessantly went "No more time already, we should move on. No more time already!!!!!!"

I have more pictures of food in my phone that i haven't uploaded. It's more discreet and polite to pretend to be smsing and then taking the picture while half the world queues up outside the shop waiting for you to finish you meal.

キセキ5
Our hotel/ ryokan/ inn which ever you wanna call it. It was really good and cheap. I had a whole 200bucks more for spending after i extended our stay at this place.

ヂスニー シ (Disneysea) my cam died on me the first hour into the day so most pics there were taken using my trusty phone and are still inside.

SCRIBBLE
Because summer is the time when flowers go into full bloom, all the Hydrangeas, roses and lilies along the roads and in the parks were basking under the sun in their full glory.

AND FINALLY..... (if you know your pastries..)

I've been searching high and low for ways to bring the best macaroons into Singapore until i found out that aside from his boutique in Paris, he's set up several in Tokyo (新宿伊勢丹、渋谷西部 etc)! They were really expensive though. I wanted to buy some of them back as presents but the box of 6 you see up there already cost me 25bucks.

oh and look at the stash of goods we had to lug back. I went with a 12kg luggage and came back with a 20.4 0.0

No one's gonna believe me if i say that shopping is really cheap in Tokyo but it really is. I did most of it at アメ横 (Ameyoko Street in Ueno) and 竹下通り (Takeshita street in Harajuku) and most of what the Japanese consider to be outdated (ie Fred Perry and Sneakers etc) were sold at 1/10 of their original prices. I got this Shirt that says "Adidas 原宿" and an Adidas Originals jacket for SGD15 each. We bought another pair of Adidas originals sneakers for bro for only SGD30!! My proudest buy was this Made in Japan pair of sneakers which i got for 97Yen (SGD1.40) LOL i went ほんと!! damn loudly when the guy told me the price he started laughing at me. But if you are looking to stay abreast with the Japanese and wind up looking like a weirdo back in Singapore, then shopping is really expensive. A bag from a street equivalent of Bugis street can cost upward of SGD200. They have Burberry Blue Label exclusively over there as well :)

Also, this trip has made me realized that all the money i spent on the Jap lessons were really useless because no one in Japan speaks Japanese the way it is taught to us. It's like no one speaks proper English on the roads and in the shops in Singapore or even the States. Normal conversations are strung with slangs that you cannot really be one of them no matter how hard you try to. What actually helped this time round were the vocab that they made us memorize during the lessons. It made those ricocheting sentences more comprehensible when you can pull out the nouns to understand them.

It's sad to know that everything seems somewhat ephemeral. Regardless of whether it's something you've been wishing well damn hard for or something that you cannot wait for it to quickly pass, they will eventually still slip by you and slowly elude your memory. It's not as easy finding something that you can hold on to and believe in.

All pictures taken using a Canon Digital Ixus40 without any digital enhancement. Damnit i need a new カメラ. this cam hardly works under low light condition and i have to manually evaluate the white balance with a piece of white paper every time i need to take a picture under low light.
